
The butterfly flowers move and sway when you walk, which is extra fun for binging on snacks while watching the royal wedding. If you want to go smaller and simpler, it’s up to you. My goal with these fascinators was to have fun and be extra gaudy. On top of that I added some purple and pink feathers and then glued on several of the fake flowers I got at The Dollar Tree that look more like butterflies than flowers. A few snips made it fall apart and then I had the perfect netting material to use. One of the things that I used that probably isn’t associated with fancy hats was a loofah.

Some of the items I picked up to make fascinators were: I tried to look for anything that might add height, texture or netting. This was our supply haul from The Dollar Tree. Once your base is ready it’s time to put on your creativity hats and go wild. Once you have it in place, put a few dots of hot glue to keep it in place. Cut an oval from the paper plate, put to slits in it and slide it onto the headband. We made these DIY fascinators using simple headbands from the dollar store and a paper plate. Once we got started making them the supplies we used varied from everything to a bug net to a loofah but the base is always the same.
