ACTON sent us their Blink Lite electric skateboard and after a few minutes riding it, my son was hooked.

Since a driver’s license is still a few years away (thank goodness), we had to look at other options. When asked what he wanted for his birthday, he could think of one thing - transportation. Instead, we get marketing, higher (misleading) specs and cheaper components. My teenager is constantly on the lookout for the best way to get from point A to point B. Issues after that is still poor design more specifically boardmakers' inability to realize that precision electronics and skateboarding is just plain incompatible as is and do something about it.Įach e-skate should have * every single measure above not just one or two. Consumers who have boards that don't cut off are blissfully unaware that they are degrading their batteries, or frying their electronics.Ĭomplexity doesn't make problems inevitable - issues in the first few months is just poor design, poor quality or poor manufacturing processes.

Regen on full battery (without a possible shunt like Mellow) will destroy the battery it's a law of physics, not a design choice. If an unexpected disconnect will throw me, don't bother advertising a max speed higher than a brisk walk. Cars are much much more complicated, and, in that industry, products with such issues are called lemons. Thinking such issues are "normal" is everything that's wrong with e-skates today. Has anyone worked with a hub motor like this? Does this seem fixable or should I just return it? I could just ask for a replacement, but I think it would just happen again. It looks like I could remove the wheel from the motor, tap a thread on the center shaft and put a bolt through the wheel cap to stop it from sliding. I'd love to fix it if I could and I found these photos, which appears to be an almost identical hub motor.

I e-mailed Acton support a few days ago, but no reply. It doesn't show it in the video, but a full 90 left turn drags it down to an almost dead stop. I just recorded it today to confirm, it slips about 5mm when I turn left. My problem is, a noise that started a week after I got it when I turn left. I weigh the exact maximum weight (180 lbs), but it still moves 10mph which is better than walking. However, it is a lot of fun!!! I really love it. I wasn't expecting much at this price, but I figured it would get me to the bus stop until I get my custom board finished. So I grabbed the Acton Blink Lite on black friday when it dropped to $200.
